The Town of Franklinton's Mayor, Greg Route has a bold mission for Franklinton citizens to become a safer, more business and family friendly town.
Driven by a desire for positive change in the life of each citizen, Mayor Route has proven that the greatest level of success is achieved when everyone has a seat at the table.
Mayor Route's civic and business endeavors, both locally and outside city limits, have been numerous and varied. He has served on the boards of the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship; the Town Alderman; Charter Member of Kiwanas Club; the National Grambling State University Alumni Association; Master of the Eukra Lodge No. 27 Masonic Order; and is now serving his second term on Washington Parish Council of District #6.

With a fondness for his small town Mayor Route was also a former radio announcer for FHS Friday night Football; Certified Drivers Education Instructor; Certified in CPR; Little League Coach (and team sponsor); retired and certified referee/ umpire of Baseball, Football, and Basketball.
​
He also was formerly employed at Bogalusa Box Plant, Riverside Medical Center, and International Paper Company. Mayor Greg Route is married to Mrs. Emma "Lois" Route and have 2 grown, children and 3 grandchildren. They are longtime, active members of Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church where he also serves as a Senior Decon / Assistant Sup. of Sunday School Teacher Discipleship class.

He is the son of late Clarence Route Sr. and the late Gladys Magee Route. He graduated from Franklinton High School and spend 1 year at Sullivan Voe Tech in Bogalusa, LA. Route then graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Grambling State University.
